Asaduddin Owaisi Files Complaint Against Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Over Controversial Video

Hyderabad: AIMIM President and Hyderabad MP, Barrister Asaduddin Owaisi, met with the Hyderabad Police Commissioner today to demand strict legal action against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

The Grounds for Complaint

The complaint centers around an animated video shared by the official social media handle of Assam BJP. Owaisi alleged that the video is designed to incite communal hatred and targets a specific community. He further stated that such content poses a significant threat to the peace and harmony of the country.

Reference to Supreme Court Guidelines

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Owaisi emphasized the legal obligations of the police regarding hate speech.

"The Supreme Court has clearly mandated that in cases of hate speech, the police must register an FIR 'Suo Motu' (on their own motion) without any delay. We have submitted all necessary evidence to the Commissioner and expect the law to take its course," Owaisi stated.

Political Stir in Hyderabad

Accompanied by other senior AIMIM leaders, the MP’s move has triggered a fresh wave of political debate in the city. The Hyderabad police are currently reviewing the evidence provided by the AIMIM delegation.
