Hyderabad Metro Phase 2: Airport aur Old City connectivity par badi khabar!
The Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) Phase 2 project is gaining significant momentum in 2026 as the state government pushes for better urban connectivity. With the city's population growing rapidly, Phase 2 aims to provide a seamless commuting experience from the heart of the city to the outskirts.
Key Highlights of Phase 2:
Airport Connectivity: One of the most anticipated routes is the 36-km link to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) via Chandrayangutta. This will significantly reduce travel time for commuters from the southern and eastern parts of the city.
Old City Metro (Line 6): Construction works have intensified on the 7.5 km stretch from MGBS to Falaknuma. This corridor will feature 6 new stations, bringing modern transport to the historic streets of Hyderabad.
Funding Update: Recent reports indicate that the Central Government is in discussions to release nearly ₹28,740 crore for various MRTS projects, including Hyderabad’s expansion, provided the Detailed Project Reports (DPR) are finalized.
Why it Matters: The expansion is not just about tracks; it’s about reducing the heavy traffic congestion at junctions like LB Nagar, Uppal, and Chandrayangutta. Once completed, Hyderabad Metro will become one of the most comprehensive transit networks in India.
